Access Tree Care Materials

Pick up a tree care card at participating locations in Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Minnetonka, St. Louis Park or Chanhassen.

If you care for the trees in your yard, they pay you back by cleaning the air, keeping you cool, increasing your property values, and more! According to the Arbor Day Foundation, a mature tree can have an appraisal value of between $1,000 and $10,000?

And, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the net cooling effect of a young, healthy tree is equivalent to 10 room-size air conditioners operating 20 hours a day!

So, what are you waiting for? Plant and protect your investment by watering, mulching, and pruning right.

Do your part. Care for trees! Pick up a Roots in Minnesota campaign card at one of these locations within our participating campaign cities to access valuable tree care tips:

Pocket Guide to Tree Planting

dnr_colorTrees pay us back! According to the US Forest Service, a healthy, mature tree can add an average of 10 percent to your property’s value. With the serious threat of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in our communities, it’s more important than ever to plant diverse species of trees in your yard. EAB, along with stronger storms, is expected to eliminate one-third of Minnesota’s community tree canopy in the next 20-30 years.

Minnesota community foresters are a great resource for information on EAB and tree planting and care. Most larger cities have a city forester on staff. Minneapolis and St. Paul actually have a team of foresters who can help you select the right trees and guide you on planting and caring for them. The Minnesota DNR also has a great resource for you. It’s called The Pocket Guide to Tree Planting. Click here to access it, along with a lot of other valuable information on tree planting and care.
